How to use MELDOS Natural Resin Hardening Oil

Coniferous (pine) wood surfacesWood must be dry, solid, able to absorb, finely sanded (floors up to 180 grain, furniture up to 240 grain), clean, and free of resin and dust. Glue and other adhesives must be absolutely dry before beginning. Apply 1-3 coats, depending on surface conditions and absorbency. Wood should become saturated. After each coat, wait 30 minutes, then spread any excess unabsorbed oil onto spots that are still absorbent. Sand between coats. LIVOS products suitable for subsequent treatments: ARDVOS Wood Oil No. 266, BILO Floor Wax No. 303, SOGO Hard Wax No. 307, BEKOS Wax No. 312 or BIVOS Oil Wax No. 375. In moist/damp rooms or areas in contact with water: Use MELDOS Natural Resin Hardening Oil No. 264 or ARDVOS Wood Oil No. 266 without a wax post-treatment.
Porous stone and tile surfacesAfter deacidification (follow manufacturer?s instructions), leave tile untreated for a minimum of four weeks. Treat one tile as a test: if white dots or streaks appear, repeat deacidification. Saturate with MELDOS. Careful removal of unabsorbed oil approximately 20 minutes after application is important. In dry areas, finish surface with BILO Floor Wax or SOGO Hot Hard Wax.
Renovation of old furniturePore-clogging old coatings (oil based paints, stains, varnishes, wax coats) must be sanded or stripped to completely remove residue. Surface must be dry, solid, able to absorb, clean and free of dust. Porous old coatings must be cleaned, sanded if needed, checked for absorbency and smoothness, and treated accordingly. Follow instructions for application on pine wood surfaces (above), note that the ability to absorb might have been reduced.
Important tipsPre- test! Ensure good ventilation during use and drying times. Approximately 20 to 30 minutes after application, remove unabsorbed oil with a lint free cloth to prevent a non-drying surface with an uneven shine from occurring. Always apply a test coat, as oak and other woods containing incompatibilities such as tannic acid or dyes, or that have been sanded, stripped, pre-treated, or stained, may experience discolouration within one week of application. For glued crosscut wood and veneered surfaces, observe a treated test area for five days. The glue may dissolve or odour may appear. Applied to hardwoods, linseed oil may seep from pores. Fruit tree woods may become dappled when treated with MELDOS.
